Hall-of-Famer Will Wear ProQuip Wind and Rain Apparel on LPGA Tour
Ponte Vedra Beach, FL (March 12, 2008) – Juli Inkster spent three cold and rainy days in Sweden last September learning firsthand the benefits of ProQuip Weatherwear while competing at the 2007 Solheim Cup. Now, Inkster will carry those benefits onto the LPGA Tour as an official endorsement partner for ProQuip, the world’s leader in technical outerwear.
"Not only is Juli one of the finest golfers to ever play the game, but she and her husband Brian, a PGA professional, are avid sports and outdoor enthusiasts who appreciate ProQuip’s quality and year-round versatility," says company president Randy Payne.
Inkster, a seven-time major championship winner and member of the World Golf Hall of Fame, will wear ProQuip’s new Ladies Liberty rain suit and Silk Touch Wind jacket on Tour through 2009.
“My introduction to ProQuip at The Solheim Cup was eye-opening,” says Inkster. The apparel was so light, quiet and completely unrestricting of my golf swing. I’m thrilled to be able to share the ProQuip story with women golfers around the world.”
ProQuip, founded in 1981 and based in the historic golfing town of North Berwick in Scotland, is synonymous with ultra-lightweight and supremely soft waterproof- breathable golf clothing. ProQuip USA is the company’s North American distributor and is based in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. ProQuip is the official weatherwear for The 2009 U.S. Solheim Cup Team and the Executive Women’s Golf Association.
Added Inkster, “I certainly look forward to carrying ProQuip on tour, but my home is in Northern California, where it’s been known to get a little drizzly and cool. So I’ll definitely be wearing my ProQuip jackets running errands around town or being outdoors with my family.”
Earlier this year majority ownership in ProQuip was acquired by Florida-based businessman Gary Markel. The signing of Juli Inkster to represent ProQuip is the latest manifestation of the new ownership’s commitment to “fortifying the premier brand in golf weatherwear,” according to Markel.
Inkster joins Jim Furyk, currently #8 on the Official World Golf Ranking, as an ambas-sador for ProQuip. Furyk was signed last January during the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando. Both Furyk and Inkster will be featured in ProQuip advertising in 2008.
