LAKE MARY, FL – What is the true state of the golf industry? That question draws a wide array of answers when discussed among golf industry people during these challenging economic times.
A distinguished panel of golf business leaders will tackle that issue during the “State Of The Industry” panel at the 18th Annual ING Spring Conference, set for May 27-31 at Atlantic City, NJ.
This annual gathering of golf media and companies from all corners of the golf industry is open to anyone in the golf business and media, and is conducted by the non-profit International Network of Golf. Visit www.inggolf.com for more information.
The State Of The Industry panel will be held on Wednesday morning, May 28 at the host hotel, the Atlantic City Sheraton.
Panel participants include: Joe Steranka, CEO, PGA of America; Steve Mona, CEO, World Golf Foundation; Mike Hughes, Executive Director, National Golf Course Owners Association.; Libba Galloway, Deputy Commissioner of the LPGA; and representatives from the USGA and a major golf equipment manufacturer. Moderator will be Adam Schupak, Senior Writer for Golfweek.
Each participant will provide an opinion of the state of the golf industry from his or her organization’s viewpoint. The audience will then be allowed to ask questions,.
That panel is one of several educational workshops that have been created to help individuals improve their professional skills, increase knowledge of the industry and elevate their companies or careers. Other sessions include:
Small Groups Topics Breakfast, in which experts in various occupations will share secrets of success with their tablemates over breakfast;
Media Roundtable, during which members of the media share opinions and information about various topics affecting today’s media;
Marketing Roundtable, a session during which business executives, marketing professionals and promoters interact about their marketing, advertising and PR challenges in today’s business climate;
Tried, Tested & True, a new session in which several new marketing and promotion ideas will be presented by individuals and dissected by a panel of experts.
Other conference schedule highlights include:
1) The ING Demo Lab. Nearly two dozen companies use the practice facility to launch new product or simply display for attendees to demo; set for Marriott Seaview Resort & Spa on Thursday, May 29.
2) The ING One-On-One Appointment Show. It was created to place an emphasis on business relations between the media and golf companies, resorts, destinations and entrepreneurs. A series of private, 15-minute meetings are held between exhibitors and media; set for Thursday morning, May 29 at host hotel.
3) The International Pairs World Qualifier. A two-player team that wins this 18-hole net points competition at Atlantic City Country Club will represent ING and the USA in the International Pairs World Finals in Scotland in September, an expenses-paid trip. Also, the inaugural Durland Cup scramble will be held.
4) The ING Fashion Show. ING members will take to the runway as models, sporting the latest and greatest fashions from some of the industry’s top apparel companies.
5) The Opening Night Golf Expo & Orientation. Sponsored by the Atlantic City Convention & Visitors Authority, this kickoff event features tabletop displays from participating travel destinations, resorts and golf merchandise companies, as well as an orientation of the following days’ events.
6) Helping to kick off the week in a positive and energetic way is motivational speaker Dom Famularo, the author of, "The Cycle of Self Empowerment." He has toured the world performing motivational speeches that always end with standing ovations. He has a unique, breezy style, blending a mix of humor, story telling and philosophy.
