Leon County?s Best Players Compete in Fifty-Four-Hole, Individual Stroke Play Tournament
(TALLAHASSEE, Fla.) – SouthWood Golf Club – the award-winning public course at the heart of one ofTallahassee’s most comprehensively designed communities – today announces it will host the second annual Tallahassee Amateur Golf Championship March 28-30.
The Tallahassee Amateur has grown to a 54-hole event since last year’s inaugural tournament. This year, competitors will play one round each at SouthWood Golf Club and Killearn Country Club and Inn on days one and two. The lowest nine players in each flight will advance to the third and final round at SouthWood. Tee times will start at 12 p.m. each day, and all competitors must be a resident of Leon County or a member in good standing of a golf club in Leon County. Proof of residency or membership is required.
The $165 entry fee includes prize fund, green/cart fees, range balls and one practice round at each course during the week of the tournament. Players will be flighted by their handicap index and must have a valid USGA index to enter. Six flights will accommodate indexes ranging from 2.9 and lower to 17 and higher, while ladies flights will be determined by participation. The first flight will play both courses from 6,800 yards, flights 2-6 from 6,400 yards, and ladies flights from 5,300 yards.
