JUPITER, Fla. – On pace for a record-breaking season on the PGA TOUR, Strategic Shaft Technologies (SST) L.C., makers of the SST PURE® shaft-alignment technology, added another tour victory to its season total. At the recent AT&T Champions Classic, the Zimbabwe-born player known for his play of PUREd shafts, earned his third Champions Tour crown in two years, winning on the third hole of a Sunday playoff at Valencia Country Club.
The win marks the ninth victory so far this season by players on the PGA and Champions Tours with a history of PUREing their clubs.
“The PURE® shaft alignment technology is more popular on tour than ever before,” says Arnie Cunningham, a PGA Tour representative for SST. “The PURE® alignment process improves a player’s ball striking ability, and it’s the only technology that produces a visual graph and analysis report that illustrates a shaft’s performance results ‘before and after’ the alignment. Pros – just like any player – are eager to improve their impact repeatability and minimize the shot dispersion created by shafts that may inadvertently create a hook or slice due to asymmetric properties in the shaft itself. The patented SST shaft alignment process effectively minimizes or eliminates altogether the off-line dispersion. The net result is longer, straighter shots.”
Cunningham also notes several other pro tour players had shafts PUREd recently, including Henrik Stenson, K.J. Choi, Vijay Singh, Bart Bryant, Bo Van Pelt, Tim Clark, Anders Hansen, and Matt Kuchar.
With a nine-year track record on the PGA Tour, the shot-enhancing technology of SST PURE has attracted more than 200 pro players and raised their expectations of shaft performance. The PURE shaft alignment process has been independently tested and scientifically proven to minimize off-line shaft bending and/or twisting during the swing and to significantly improve impact repeatability on the center of the club face by up to 51 percent.
The SST PURE shaft alignment process utilizes proprietary computer software and sensitive data-acquisition sensors to accurately analyze the structural irregularities that exist to some degree in every golf shaft and to locate the shaft’s most stable orientation. As a result of the process, SST produces a visual graph and analysis report that illustrates the shafts’ performance results ‘before and after’ the PURE process and detailing three key aspects of PURE alignment. The first is a 360-degree evaluation of the shaft’s stiffness, roundness and straightness, known as the ‘Load Symmetry Index’ (LSI) test; the shaft’s oscillation in the ‘logo up’ or the factory-installed shaft position in the clubhead, and the shaft’s oscillation when in the PURE-aligned position. The SST analysis also records the performance percentage each shaft was improved.
The SST PURE technology has proven equally effective on existing clubs, new clubs and new shafts – steel or graphite – from all major manufacturers. For more information on the SST PURE shaft alignment process or to locate a SST PURE licensee, call 877-254-4848 or visit www.sstpure.com.
