Wins and Player Usage Numbers Continue to Grow
Marlborough, MA-March 31st, 2008- CHAMP Spikes, The #1 Brand on Tour left all competitors in the desert dust this weekend as CHAMP and the number one ranked female player in the world both defended their titles at the Safeway International at Superstition Mountain in Arizona.
The 26-year-old sensation shot an astonishing 6-under 66 to finish at 22-under 266 for her second win in three attempts this season. Wearing CHAMP’s highly visible pink and white Lady Stinger™, the champion shot the lowest score in the five years that the tournament has been held at Superstition Mountain. The leaderboard was crowded with CHAMP Spikes faithful as eight out of the top ten and 13 of the top 20 finishers chose CHAMP Spikes for their traction needs.
At the European Tour’s Andalucia Open in Puerto Banus, Spain it was Thomas Levet and CHAMP’s traditional Cermec® spike claiming victory after one playoff hole. With a par on the extra hole, the winner capped a come from behind victory in a tournament where CHAMP Spikes dominated all other competition. 60% of the entire field turned to CHAMP for their all important sure footing and an amazing 66 players turned to CHAMP’s new and improved Scorpion Stinger™.
On the PGA Tour, player usage numbers continue to impress. Half of the field at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans chose either the Stinger, CHAMP’s hybrid Pro Stinger™ or traditional steel Cermec spike to provide them with the traction and stability needed to survive some soggy conditions over the weekend. 81% of the players that wore CHAMP Spikes chose CHAMP over the brand of spikes that came in their shoes as original equipment.
“The momentum continues to build,” said Harris MacNeill, President of CHAMP. “What is so impressive here is the number of players that continue to choose our spikes over the spikes that come in their shoes when they get them. That speaks volumes about the confidence that the players have in our products.”
