ATLANTA, GA (April 3, 2008) – U.S. Kids Golf has teamed up with the LPGA Tour to help introduce golf to a new generation of players. The manufacturer of junior golf equipment is providing golf clubs and bags to the LPGA Tour Junior Golf Clinics program, which kicks off this week.
The LPGA started the Junior Clinic program in the early 1990’s to provide an opportunity for youngsters to learn golf’s fundamentals from some of the game’s most accomplished players and teachers. LPGA Tour players and LPGA Teaching and Club Professionals serve as clinic instructors.
The 2008 clinic schedule begins at the Kraft Nabisco Championship in Rancho Mirage,Calif., on April 5.
“Junior clinics are designed to encourage young players to give the game a try and help them get started,” said Nancy Henderson, executive director, LPGA Teaching and Club Professionals. “Having equipment made especially for their size and experience level helps make the instruction more productive and the game more fun.”
U.S. Kids Golf is providing clubs for girls and boys of different ages, heights and skill levels. The clubs are specifically designed for children with club heads up to 25 percent lighter than adult clubs and flexible shafts to make the grip and swing easier for small hands. U.S. Kids Golf is providing a variety of club sizes and colors to fit girls and boys.
“LPGA clinics are a great way for kids to be introduced to golf, and we’re excited to be able to play a role in that experience,” said Dan Van Horn, founder and president of U.S. Kids Golf.
Henderson said the LPGA has scheduled nine Junior Clinics this year and hopes to add more. For a complete schedule of clinic dates, please visit www.lpga.com.
