SAN DIEGO, CA – April 9, 2008 – SKLZ, the industry leader in sports skill development products and equipment, today announced the addition of Erica Blasberg as an endorser of the SKLZ Rick Smith Signature Series golf training products. Blasberg, who recently posted her first LPGA top ten finish at the SBS Open at Turtle Bay, appears in several of the company’s commercials.
"I’m very excited to endorse SKLZ golf training products because of the company’s ongoing product innovation and commitment to helping golfers develop their skills and enjoy the game more," said Blasberg. "I am always looking to improve my game and my new relationship with SKLZ will play a key role in achieving this."
Before becoming a professional, Erica was a standout on the American Junior Golf Association circuit and garnered numerous awards and accomplishments. She was a three-time first-team Polo All-American, was a member of the 2002 Canon Cup and winner of the 2002 Rolex Tournament of Champions. Blasberg has also competed in five U.S. Women’s Amateur Championships and was a quarterfinalist in 2003.
Erica continued to excel in the college ranks at the University of Arizona and was a two-time All-American, 2003 Freshman of the Year, 2003 Pac-10 Player of the Year, and recorded six tournament wins for the Wildcats. In 2003, Blasberg carded a 64, her lowest in amateur competition, during the second round of the Welch’s/Fry’s Championship and tied for 49th.
Erica began her professional career in 2004 on the Futures Tour and nailed down four top-10 results in eight events, which included a victory at the Lacoma Savings Bank Futures Golf Classic. She qualified for the Tour on her first try. On the LPGA Tour, she recorded her career-best finish at the 2008 SBS Open at Turtle Bay, where she tied for 8th and carded a season low 68 in the second round. In addition to her outstanding playing statistics, she recently received another ranking in the world of golf… The Golf Channel ranked her number 7 on its Top 10 Sexiest Golfers show.
"We are thrilled to have Erica join the SKLZ Team," said Tom Quinn, President, SKLZ. "Not only is she a tremendous golfer who has shown consistent improvement on the LPGA Tour, she has a youthful exuberance and style that will resonate with the many women who are trying to improve their games.”
