ORLANDO – Scott Schepens, a student at San Diego Golf Academy’s Orlando campus, endured an exciting, eight-hole playoff to win the Championship Flight tournament in the Golf Channel Amateur Tour event, held recently at Providence Golf Club in Orlando. The eight-hole playoff set a new record for Golf Channel Tour event.
Schepens finished with a 73 after making a birdie on the 18th hole to tie for the lead. Along with fellow competitor Michael Amato of Clermont, Fla., Schepens played another eight holes before Amato bogeyed and he parred the 26th hole of the day, securing the win. In May, Schepens will begin his second year as a student at San Diego Golf Academy in Orlando.
