MADISON, WI – In a recent announcement, the Metropolitan Golf Association (MGA) stated that Electronic Measurement Devices (EMD’s) will be allowed during their events beginning this tournament season. As a result, the MGA has also decided to utilize the Laser Link Reflector System for each event. The Laser Link Reflector System is widely known as the best reflector design for the game of golf.
“After two years of study, the Metropolitan Golf Association (NY) is excited to begin use of the Local Rule permitting Electronic Measuring Devices at our championship sites and will provide SmartSticks with embedded reflectors for the convenience of our competitors,” said Gene Westmoreland, Senior Director of Rules & Competitions.
The SmartStick is Laser Link Golf’s reflective flagstick product. Reflectors are embedded directly into the fiberglass, for a seamless integration of design and function. Also available is the Smarty – a tiny reflector that screws onto the top of a regulation flagstick. Both are designed with performance and durability in mind.
“We are excited about the MGA’s decision, and we look forward to working with them,” said Dan Steiner, vice president of Laser Link Golf. “It is difficult to find a golf association that is more highly respected than the MGA, and their use of EMD’s combined with Laser Link Reflectors is a great endorsement of the electronic distance measurement movement. This will be a benefit to all of their tournament players.”
The MGA will also have use of the company’s QuickShot and Gold NFE rangefinders, for use in measuring par threes and in other course setup tasks.
