PLANO, TEXAS, April 14, 2008 – For the first time in the company’s history Adams Golf (NasdaqCM:ADGF) won the hybrid equipment count at the Masters, according to the Darrell Survey. It was another example of the increased usage of the highly acclaimed Idea hybrids, including the Idea a3 and the Idea Pro, by PGA TOUR pros.
Adams Golf accounted for over one-third of all the hybrids in play at Augusta National Golf Club. It was also the 13th PGA TOUR event of the year that Idea hybrids ranked as the top hybrid brand in play, making Adams Golf the outright hybrid leader on tour in 2008.
“Winning the hybrid count at a prestigious event like the Masters is a great honor and achievement that we’re extremely proud of,” said Cindy Herington, Adams Golf vice president of marketing. “The Adams Golf brand is very strong right now on tour and in the marketplace. The success we’ve had on tour, like this past week in Augusta, has carried over and consumers are cognizant of the increasing number of pros switching to hybrids and preferring our brand over the others.”
To date, 452 Adams Golf hybrids have been played on the PGA TOUR, which accounts for 28% of the category. Three tournament champions (Mercedes-Benz Championship, Puerto Rico Open and Shell Houston Open) have won playing the Idea Pro hybrid. The company has won every hybrid count on the Champions Tour since 2005 and every count on the Nationwide Tour since the summer of 2006.
