LANSDOWNE, Va., April 14, 2008 … Lansdowne Resort, the premier private golf facility in the Mid-Atlantic, has the perfect “unlimited play” package for golfers looking to polish their game for the season ahead.
The “Maximum Golf” package provides guests the opportunity to play The Golf Club at Lansdowne’s 45 exceptional golf holes, highlighted by two championship 18-hole layouts, The Robert Trent Jones, Jr. (RTJ II) Course and The (Greg) Norman Course. As an added bonus, junior golfers and families will find appeal in The Greg Norman Shark Bite 9, a short course also designed by the Australian golf legend.
The “Maximum Golf” package, available now through September 6, 2008, requires a minimum one-night stay and provides unlimited golf for two after noon on the day of arrival and for the duration of all subsequent days of the stay. Rates start at $199 per room, per night, for up to two people, based on double occupancy and availability. Rates are exclusive of tax and resort fee.
Lansdowne Resort, a AAA Four Diamond Award recipient located near historic Leesburg, Va., features 305 luxurious guest rooms and suites, all boasting new enhancements as part of the property’s recent $55 million renovation.
Play at The Golf Club at Lansdowne is reserved for club members and resort guests only, with resort guests enjoying daily access to one of the two 18-hole courses on a rotating basis. Here’s a closer look at the three courses:
* Robert Trent Jones Jr. Course: With views of the Virginia countryside, this par-72, 7,063-yard layout incorporates fields, woodlands, natural stone outcroppings and centuries old rock walls. While friendly, the strategic layout will test the skills of both the accomplished and novice golfer.
* The Norman Course: The front nine runs east along the Potomac River, parallel to Nos. 16, 17 and 18 of the RTJ II course, while the back nine comes west along the river toward Goose Creek. The last four holes measure 1,760 yards – equal to one mile – creating “the hardest mile in golf,” according to Norman. Golf Magazine named it one of the Top 10 “Best New Courses You Can Play” in 2005.
* Shark Bite 9: The short course runs adjacent to Norman’s 18-hole course, and is longer and more challenging than most traditional nine-hole offerings. The par-32 course features five sets of tees ranging from 2,319 to 1,674 yards all the way down to junior tees at 1,216 and 860 yards.
The Golf Club at Lansdowne also features a superb, double-ended practice facility set on 16 acres overlooking the Shenandoah Mountains. A driving range, three large putting greens and a short-game area will ensure golfers can hone their skills before or after their rounds.
Bordering the Potomac River, Lansdowne Resort is nestled in historic Loudoun County, Virginia’s famed “wine country,” just eight miles from Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) and 30 miles from Washington, D.C.
