“Find Your” Fit In The May Issue Of Golf Tips

April 17, 2008

For a while, it seemed as though getting your clubs custom-fit was reserved for Tour players and those who take their golf game extra seriously. But now, custom fitting is made available to everyone, thanks to a new era of golf clubs that feature all kinds of equipment geared for various types of golfers. Clubfitting has exploded beyond simple tape measurements and basic shaft flexes. The Golf Tips staff decided to walk you through a few custom fittings in the May issue of Golf Tips Magazine.

Doppler radar, launch monitors and laser-guided devices are used by clubfitters to help make sure you have the absolute best equipment for your swing. The GT team was lucky enough to explore two different kinds of clubfitting experiences with the guys at Hot Stix in Denver, Colo. Resident smooth swinger, Charlie Schroeder, went through the standard fitting, which is designed for golfers who want their current set looked at and a few recommendations on how to make it better. Fellow editor and big hitter, Ryan Noll, opted for the tour fitting, which included an even more in-depth look at his sticks.

“Like our readers, we editors wanted to try clubfitting for ourselves to see if we had any flaws in our golf equipment,” said Senior Editor Ryan Noll. “Instead of being intimidated, clubfitting turned out to be a very enlightening experience. We learned not only about our own golf equipment and how it’s designed to perform, we also got a feel for what types of clubfitting procedures are best for different types of golfers. In other words, just as there are a lot of clubs to choose from, there are also different ways to get fitted. With our take on clubfitting, golfers will better know what type of clubfitting is the right choice come time to fine tune their golf equipment.”

To find out about these custom clubfittings and what kinds of things you can expect to learn from each fitting, pick up the May issue of Golf Tips Magazine.
