(SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.) April 21, 2008 – Amy Alcott, a member of both the LPGA Hall of Fame and World Golf Hall of Fame and one of the game’s great ambassadors, has signed a marketing agreement with Gaylord Sports Management. Gaylord Sports President David Yates and Vice President of Business Development Tim Ummel will handle the account.
“Beyond being a truly great competitor, Amy is so vibrant and has so many interests that we’re ecstatic about representing her,” said Yates. “She is a popular corporate speaker, in demand for corporate outings, and has started a career in course design, all areas we are very active in, and I’m sure we’ll both find many other things to do together. And with Amy we’ll have fun doing them.”
Alcott won 29 times in her 30-year career on the LPGA Tour, including five major championships, and along the way won nearly as many fans with her personality as with her performance. In 1988 it was Alcott who initiated the tradition of the Kraft Nabisco winner jumping in the pond beside the 18th green at Mission Hills in Rancho Mirage. She still plays on the LPGA Legends Tour, her second book, “Spiked Shoes” is due in April ’09, and she has consulted on two golf course redesign projects.
“I am excited about working with GSM on the next phase of my career,” said Alcott. “The time was right for me to join a team that will help me foster opportunities that are evolving for me away from just competitive golf. I love the spirit of the game, love to play and enjoy sharing my enthusiasm with people.”
