Celebrity Businesswoman Shares Tips and Role Golf Plays in Her Life
PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL, April 24, 2008 – Omarosa Manigault Stallworth, noted for her first season appearance on Donald Trump’s reality show, The Apprentice, as well as this season’s Celebrity Apprentice was the first guest for The Web Café series hosted by the Executive Women’s Golf Association (EWGA), exclusively for its Executive Distinction members.
In the first of six half-hour web-based teleconferences EWGA has scheduled in 2008, Omarosa shared her life story and how she started playing golf at the age of 13 in an inter-city youth golf program conducted by the state of Ohio. She credits golf for helping her at an early age learn the importance of focus and concentration, and as a tool for developing long term relationships.
She talked about working in the Clinton White House, starting Access America Enterprise Corporation, a strategic fund raising, planning and consulting services firm with the goal of bringing more minorities into government and her charity work with Good Vibrations, a Compton, Calif., program for at-risk teens.
“What a fascinating and inspiring woman and an ideal guest to launch our Web Café series,” says Pam Swensen, the CEO of the EWGA who conducted the live interview with Omarosa. “Meeting the real, savvy businesswoman and philanthropist behind the character she plays on reality TV definitely provided our Executive members with valuable insights that can be applied to their own lives.”
Planning a Women’s Empowerment Tour with other ‘Celebrity Apprentice’ stars Marilu Henner and Nely Galan, Omarosa shared tips for how to get ahead in business as a woman:
1) Stop worrying about what people think about you. It’s more important what you think of yourself and to really establish your own identity.
2) Stay current in your field of work. Never, ever stop learning. Training and education are so empowering for women.
3) Plan your work, work your plan. Plan your network, work your network.
The first Web Café webinar was held April 17 and is archived for access by EWGA Executive Distinction members on the EWGA website at www.ewga.com. Upcoming interviews include:
May 22 Jennifer Storms, first female VP of marketing and programming at Turner Sports
June 19 Genevieve Bos, co-founder and publisher of Pink Magazine
Oct. 16 Cindy Davis, U.S. general manager, Nike Golf
Nov. 13 Rae Evans, president of Evans Capitol Group, member of the LPGA Board of Directors
Dec. 4 Dawn Hudson, former president and CEO of Pepsi-Cola North America and Chair of the LPGA Board
In addition to The Web Café series, EWGA’s Executive Distinction includes access to invitation-only ‘On Course’ events, offering unique golf and networking opportunities at some of the country’s finest resorts. ‘On Course with the EWGA’ events scheduled in 2008 include The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Colo. May 4-6; Ritz Carleton at Reynolds Plantation, Ga., June 1-3; and the Silverado Resort in Napa, Calif., on October 26-28.
