Lamkin’s Fight Against Prostate Cancer Nears Half Million

SAN DIEGO – A world leader in golf grip innovation, Lamkin announces that the company’s ‘Grips for Life’ program has now donated nearly $425,000 to the Prostate Cancer Foundation. Lamkin is staunchly committed to raising one million dollars through Grips for Life, a foundation created with Arnold Palmer that gives a portion of proceeds from domestic Lamkin branded grip sales to help fund research into treatments and an eventual cure for prostate cancer.

“Prostate cancer is one of the biggest killers in the United States, and we’re determined to fight this disease that affects so many golfers,” says Bob Lamkin, president and CEO of Lamkin. “Lamkin has helped to provide game improvement products for more than 80 years, but we are also extremely devoted to ‘life improvement’ for golfers. Whenever a clubmaker or golfer regrips their clubs with Lamkin grips, we’re donating a portion of the proceeds to fight prostate cancer, and we encourage every golfer, distributor, retailer and clubmaker to join us.”

In partnership with Arnold Palmer and the Prostate Cancer Foundation, Lamkin announced the company’s goal of raising one million dollars in 2004. Palmer, who has played Lamkin grips for more than 40 years, is a prostate cancer survivor and an active partner in the campaign to conquer a disease that will affect more than 234,000 men this year.

“Prostate cancer isn’t a battle that we can fight alone,” adds Lamkin. “Whether it’s by corporations, non-profit groups or individuals, participation at any level can make a real difference.”

The Lamkin Corporation has been the chosen grip supplier for nearly every major golf club manufacturer and the preferred grip of professional golfers worldwide. From the new StingFree Crossline Tour grip to the Dual Density Torsion Control and original Crossline, every Lamkin grip features the technical innovation and exacting performance standards that have set the industry standard for more than eight decades.
