PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. April 30, 2008 ? While the U.S. Women’s Open Championship is played at Interlachen, the Executive Women’s Golf Association (EWGA) Foundation will host its 6th annual fundraising dinner and charity golf tournament in support of LPGA-USGA Girls Golf. Open to all interested participants, the ‘ EWGA at the U.S. Open’ activities being held at the Stonebrooke Golf Club in Shakopee, Minn., include a Thursday, June 26 dinner and silent auction and Friday June 27 morning golf tournament and awards luncheon.
Playing spots with LPGA legend Patty Sheehan in the Friday tournament top the array of silent auction offerings. Sheehan, a two time U.S. Women’s Open winner, Solheim Cup captain and LPGA Hall of Fame member is a EWGA member and serves on the EWGA Foundation board of directors. Other auction items include golf foursomes at some of the country’s leading courses, golf merchandise and apparel and numerous gift certificates.
Stonebrooke Golf Club offers one of the most beautiful and rewarding golf experiences in Minnesota, with a signature hole that spans O’Dowd Lake. The award winning course has been named as one of the ‘Top 100 Courses for Women’ by Golf for Women magazine, and ‘Course of the Year’ by the Minnesota Golf Course Owners Association.
EWGA packages which are available to the public include the Thursday dinner, Friday tournament, gift bag and tickets to the U.S. Women’s Open for $395. Commuter packages for Friday golf only are available for $185 and include continental breakfast, golf, prizes and awards lunch. Proceeds raised from this EWGA Foundation event will support LPGA-USGA Girls Golf, a developmental junior golf program for girls age 7-17 to play golf, build friendships and sample competition in a supportive and positive learning environment. Over the past five years, EWGA chapters and the EWGA Foundation have donated over $350,000 to LPGA-USGA Girls Golf.
The EWGA Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit organization formed and supported by the Executive Women’s Golf Association. Its mission is to develop premier golf education and leadership development programs for women.
