(LINCOLN, CA) – Lincoln Hills Golf Club – a Billy Casper Golf-managed course – is set to host the 2008 NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championship West Regional Tournament, May 8-10.
The tournament at Lincoln Hills, one of three regional competitions that weekend, will determine part of the final field to advance to the NCAA Championship Tournament, May 20-23. A total of 21 teams and three individual golfers will contend to be among the eight teams and two individuals representing the West Region.
“The course is in terrific condition and offers a challenge to all participants,” says Mark Brouwer, General Manager of Lincoln Hills. “It’s an honor for Lincoln Hills to be selected as host of such an important NCAA event, and this is testament to the hard work of all course personnel who keep the course in top form year-round.”
Lincoln Hills Golf Club debuted in 1999 as an 18-hole Billy Casper/Greg Nash-designed course. In 2004, another nine holes were unveiled, with the last nine completed in the summer of 2005. The final 18, solely designed by Greg Nash, are seamlessly incorporated into the original course thereby creating two 18-hole layouts (Hills and Orchard Courses) with traditional out-and-back configurations.
The tournament will be played on the Orchard Course, which is best defined by its long and challenging Par-4s. The course’s generous corridors and expansive fairways impart a feeling of openness as the layout unfolds over the rolling hills and natural wetlands. Manicured fairways are framed by daunting hazards and pockets of pine, oak and redwood trees that add to the golf course’s aesthetic appeal as well as to the risk/reward challenges.
