Nike Golf Leads the PGA Tour in Driver and Iron Wins
Displaying confidence and undisputed talent, 22-year-old Anthony Kim claimed the Wachovia Championship title for his first career victory, and became the youngest winner on the PGA Tour in six years. Kim, who switched to the new Nike SQ SUMO 5000 driver and Nike’s new ONE Platinum ball just over two months ago, produced massive drives averaging 305.5 yards. His driving performance kept him among the top 10 in driving distance on the 2008 PGA Tour.
Kim also vaulted ahead of the field by his impressive pin-seeking iron shots using his Nike Forged Blade irons. Completing his full bag of Nike Golf arsenal were his Nike Pro Combo Tour 2-iron and his Nike SV 54 and SV 59-degree wedges. During the week, Kim wore Nike Golf apparel and Nike’s SP-8 TW Tour footwear. On Sunday, Kim featured a Nike Dri-FIT Polo from the new Nike Golf Tiger Woods Platinum line.
Six Nike Golf victories represent 30% of the 20 tournaments staged so far in 2008. As a result, Nike Golf athletes now hold three of the top five in the Fed Ex Cup standings, and five of the top 10.
