(HILLSBOROUGH, NJ) – In celebration of Royce Brook Golf Club’s 10th anniversary, professional golf legend Billy Casper will conduct a putting clinic and host a tournament on Saturday, May 17 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Casper’s open-to-the-public visit commences a week of promotions, including two-for-one greens fees, drawings for free rounds of golf, long-drive competitions, a $10,000 hole-in-one shootout, 10 percent off pro shop purchases, and food and beverage discounts.
Known for his mastery around the greens, Casper will give a free putting exhibition at 1 p.m. as well as sign autographs, pose for photos and generally entertain participants with stories from his decades on the PGA and Champions Tours.
“We are delighted Billy Casper will kick-off our 10th anniversary celebration,” says Paul Taggart, General Manager of Royce Brook. “A true living legend of the game, Billy Caper’s appearance is a treat for golfers of all ages. His anecdotes from his playing days, insights into the game and love of all of us who play shouldn’t be missed.”
The Billy Casper Day Tournament on Royce Brook’s East Course begins at 2 p.m. Players receive greens fees, lunch and a post-round awards dinner ($150 / entry). During the competition, Casper will be stationed at the Par 3, No. 3 hole to putt with each group and take photos.
“I am excited to meet fans and make new friends with the golfers who play Royce Brook,” says Casper. “The course’s 10th Anniversary is a great milestone, and we greatly appreciate the people who play at the course. I can’t wait to get out there to see everyone.”
One of the greatest players ever and beloved by fans worldwide, the affable Casper won two U.S. Opens and one Masters among his 51 tournament victories, ranking him seventh on the PGA TOUR all-time win list.
Only Sam Snead (82 victories), Jack Nicklaus (72), Ben Hogan (64), Tiger Woods (64), Arnold Palmer (62) and Byron Nelson (52) have won more PGA TOUR events than Casper. From 1964 to 1970, Casper won more tournaments than “The Big Three” – Nicklaus, Palmer and Gary Player – combined.
