New Amenity of the Island Resort & Casino Joins Greywalls, TimberStone for Value-Laden Stay-And-Play Packages in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula

(HARRIS, Michigan) – The Island Resort & Casino – home to the much-anticipated Sweetgrass Golf Club in Michigan’s lush, scenic Upper Peninsula – today unveils the “Perfect 4-Some” a value-laden stay-and-play package offered in tandem with nearby and acclaimed Greywalls and TimberStone golf clubs.
Owned and operated by the Hannahville Band of the Potawatomi Nation, the Island Resort & Casino and Sweetgrass are the launching points for a variety of upscale golf-experience choices.
The Perfect 4-Some starts at $229 and includes three rounds of championship golf and two nights at the Island Resort & Casino. This is substantially less than golfers and guests would pay if they booked each separately. The three rounds can be played on any combination of the three courses and the rates are based on double occupancy in the Island Resort. The resort also offers stay-and-play options of other durations, as well as group and convention rates.
“We can’t wait to hear what people think of the Island Resort & Casino and our new Sweetgrass Golf Club,” says Island Resort & Casino General Manager Tom McChesney. “We believe they will discover an outstanding, upscale golf experience, and, with Greywalls and TimberStone, a rising star golf-and-resort destination.”
Sweetgrass Golf Club is scheduled to be unveiled in early July. In the meantime, the Island Resort & Casino will host guests while they play the other featured courses.
Upon opening, Sweetgrass will feature multiple sets of tees to match any player’s ability and promises to bring a playing experience unlike any other to the unspoiled, natural wonderland that is the Upper Peninsula. From the tips, the 7,300 yards are sure to test the lowest handicap, while beginners are catered to with forward tees bringing the course to a very manageable 5,000 yards.
Golf course architect Paul Albanese paid homage to Tribal legend – directly and indirectly – via design features at Sweetgrass. The name, itself, refers to an aromatic herb, a sacred plant, used in Indian peace and healing rituals, and is found along the course.
Masterfully crafted rockwork, cedar posts and fescue-lined fairways are prevalent throughout the design, which also boasts an island green on No. 15 and a pair of breathtaking waterfalls which greet golfers as they walk up the ninth and 18th holes to an enormous, shared green. A Biarritz and a Redan green, and “rescued” bridges from the state, are other compelling components of the course.
Sweetgrass Golf Club is easily accessible via a pair of regional airports in Escanaba and Marquette.
