PLAYERS Championship Winner Returns to Scotty Cameron by Titleist Putter for First Victory in Three Years

Fairhaven, MA (May 12, 2008) – As one of the deepest fields in professional golf gathered to play one of the most difficult venues on the PGA TOUR, Titleist was the most played golf ball with 94 players at the PLAYERS Championship, more than five times the nearest competitor with 17. In fact, only four players finished under par at TPC Sawgrass, with three of them relying upon Titleist golf balls for their success.

Fan favorite Paul Goydos (Pro V1) finished regulation at five-under 283 before being edged in a sudden-death playoff, while Jeff Quinney (Pro V1x) finished solo third, one shot off the playoff pace. It was the first playoff at the PLAYERS since 1987. Briny Baird (Pro V1) was the only other player to post red a red number with a one-under 287.

Not only was Titleist the top choice in golf balls, but it was also first in the wedge (130) and putter (46) categories, and second in drivers (32) and iron sets (30).

The champion, who converted several clutch putts throughout the week including a par save on the 72nd hole to set the stage for the playoff, returned to a trusted Scotty Cameron by Titleist Newport 2 model putter for confidence on the treacherous Stadium Course greens. With the victory, Scotty Cameron putters have been the winning choice of 11 champions on the 2008 PGA TOUR, nearly three times the nearest competitor with four. In fact, Cameron loyalists have been on a roll, winning five of the last six events (including the Masters) and eight of the last 10.

NATIONWIDE: Titleist ambassador Colt Knost, the 2007 U.S. Amateur champion, captured his first victory as a professional with a blazing final round five-under par 65 to win the Fort Smith Classic. Knost overcame a 6-shot deficit to edge fellow Titleist loyalist Darron Stiles (Pro V1, 905R driver, 906 F4 3-wood, 704.CB irons, Vokey Spin Milled wedges, Scotty Cameron Studio Select Newport 2 putter) by one shot. Knost, who began the final round in 41st place, finished at 12-under 268 and then had to wait for over an hour before his victory was sealed. Another full-line Titleist player, David Lutterus (Pro V1x, 905R driver, 906 F4 fairway metal, AP2 irons, Vokey Design wedges, Scotty Cameron Studio Select Newport putter), joined Daniel Summerhays (Pro V1x) in a tie for third at 9-under 271, three shots back. With the runner-up finish, Stiles’ effort vaulted him from sixth to first on the Nationwide Tour money list.

What’s in Colt Knost’s Bag?: Pro V1x golf ball, 907 D4 prototype driver (9.5), ZB Forged irons (4-P), Vokey Design approach (50) and sand (54) wedges, Spin Milled lob (60) wedge, Scotty Cameron Futura Phantom putter.

Titleist was the most played golf ball at the Fort Smith Classic with 111 players, more than six times the nearest competitor with 18. In addition, Titleist was first in iron sets (42), wedges (132) and putters (53).

With Knost’s victory, Titleist golf ball players have won nine of the first 10 events on the 2008 Nationwide Tour.

WORLDWIDE WINS: With three more wins this week, Titleist advances its golf ball victory account across the 2008 worldwide professional tours to 59, nearly four times the nearest competitor with 15.
