Open Less Than Two Years, Shingle Creek is Again Named One of the Most Outstanding Golf & Meeting Properties in the World
ORLANDO (May 14, 2008) – For the second year in a row, Orlando’s Rosen Shingle Creek hotel, which has yet to even celebrate its second birthday, has won the prestigious Meetings & Conventions (M&C) magazine Gold Tee Award for 2008.
Rosen Shingle Creek was one of just 74 domestic and 10 international/offshore properties to be honored as an outstanding meeting/golf destination by readers of M&C magazine – more than 70,000 corporate, incentive, and association meeting planners.
“To have been open less than two years and to receive our second Gold Tee award –
one of just 84 awards given worldwide – is an incredible honor,” said Leslie Menichini, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Rosen Convention Properties. “We are thankful to the readers of Meetings & Conventions magazine for their patronage and their votes, and we vow to continue providing the superior service and world-class facilities and amenities they have come to expect from us.”
Rosen Shingle Creek’s 18-hole, par 72 (7,228 yard) David Harman designed Shingle Creek Golf Club has already racked up numerous awards since it opened in December 2003. In June 2005, Shingle Creek was named a “Top 40 Best New Course” by Golfweek magazine and one month later, it was named one of the “Top 10 Toughest Courses” by the Orlando Business Journal. Shingle Creek also received the prestigious “Greens of Distinction” from Corporate & Incentive Travel magazine and was recently named one of the Top 100 Golf Shops in the U.S. by Golf World magazine, the third year in a row that the four-year-old course has received this distinction.
Shingle Creek Golf Club is home to the Brad Brewer Golf Academy, which is quickly gaining acclaim in the industry. Brewer was recently named one of Golf Magazine’s Top 100 Teachers for 2007-2008 and also has been named the Lead Instructor for www.GolfChannel.com, the Internet arm of the GOLF CHANNEL. The Web site pulls from the cable network, boasting a worldwide distribution of more than 110 million households, thereby presenting Brewer with an extensive assembly to share his knowledge and passion for the game. Over the next three years, Brewer will provide 600 instructional tips annually, provide four to five weekly editorials and help improve an interactive learning experience for golfers of all levels of play.
In addition to winning the 2007 and 2008 Gold Tee Awards from Meetings & Conventions magazine, Rosen Shingle Creek also won the coveted 2008 AAA Four Diamond Award and was the only property open less than one year to ever receive Successful Meetings’ Pinnacle Award. In 2007, the hotel was designated a One-Palm Green Lodge by the Florida Dept. of Environmental Protection and also won the Gold Key Award from M&C magazine, the Paragon Award from Corporate Meetings & Incentives magazine, the Premium Circle Award from Financial & Insurance Meetings magazine, the Inner Circle Award from Association Meetings magazine and the Merit & Distinction Award from Medical Meetings magazine.
Rosen Shingle Creek is a magnificent 1,500-room luxury hotel, located within a mile of the Orange County Convention Center, featuring 445,000 square feet of meeting/event space and an array of amenities including a full-service Spa at Shingle Creek featuring nine treatment rooms and a state-of-the-art Fitness Center, twelve dining/lounging options, four outdoor swimming pools, two lighted tennis courts, sand volleyball, basketball and more. Uniquely situated on 230 acres on Shingle Creek, headwaters to the Florida Everglades, the hotel also offers jogging and nature trails, fishing and incredible views.
Making Shingle Creek Golf Club even more attractive to players, the course features undulating fairways and interconnecting waterways bordered by the natural backdrop of dense oaks and pines along historic Shingle Creek.
