Unprecedented 66 Players In The AT&T Classic Field Wore Softspikes’ Pulsar? Cleat

Brentwood, Tennessee, May 19, 2008 … Each week on the PGA TOUR, more than 75% of PGA TOUR players generally wear plastic cleats. Today, PrideSports, maker of Pulsar™ and Black Widow™ cleats, the world’s leading golf cleat brands, announced that nearly 80% of the field at the opening round of the AT&T Classic wore the Softspikes® brand specifically. Equally impressive, an unprecedented 66 players in the AT&T Classic field wore Pulsar™, the #1 cleat on the PGA TOUR.
As part of the Company’s domination in the plastic cleat usage count at the AT&T Classic, the Softspikes brand outdistanced the competition by a more than 3-1 ratio.
“Reaching 80% usage for an equipment brand on TOUR is not only record setting in the plastic cleat category, but unmatched in the equipment industry overall,” said Joe Zeller, President, PrideSports. “Even more impressive, however, is that 66 players in the field wore Pulsar cleats. This is unheard of for a single product, including the most dominant equipment names on TOUR.”
What makes the Pulsar cleat so popular among PGA TOUR players is Softspikes’ proprietary Reactive Comfort Technology™. Through this technology, Pulsar delivers maximum comfort and performance via a 16 component design that reacts to every angle of force exerted by the golfer. As part of this design, flexor knuckles placed at the flex point on each of Pulsar’s eight legs offers enhanced strength, responsiveness and more than twice the flexibility of any cleat on the market. In addition, reinforced arched webbing between each of Pulsar’s legs delivers instant energy return every time the cleat is compressed. As a result, all of these features combine to produce a cleat offering unmatched stability and comfort.
PrideSports was formed in January 2003 following Pride Manufacturing Company’s purchase of Softspikes, Inc., and its sister company Trisport, Ltd. of England. This acquisition essentially formed the world’s premier golf accessories company, as Pride and Softspikes are the world’s leading golf tee and golf cleat lines, respectively. Today, PrideSports is the world leader in the design and manufacture of cleats, spikes and receptacles for the entire golf footwear industry.
