New UST® AXIV Technology Delivers Perfect Strike at BMW Championship

FORT WORTH, Texas – High-performance graphite shafts designed and manufactured by UST (United Sports Technologies®) delivered an impressive international victory this weekend with its new ‘AXIV Technology’ – an exotic material that resists deformation at impact and then restores the shaft to its normal shape more efficiently.
The champion at this week’s BMW PGA Championship on the European Tour played the Accra™ XC65 shaft with UST’s ‘AXIV Technology’ in his PING driver, UST Proforce 75 in his 3-wood and UST Proforce V2 76 in his 4-wood. With the win, he became the first player to claim the BMW treble when he blasted a perfect drive and birdied the second hole of sudden-death at the Wentworth Club in Surrey, England. He previously won the BMW Asian Open and the BMW International Open in 2004.
“Delivering superior accuracy and consistency at the highest levels of the game has always been a prerequisite at UST, and the AXIV Technology has definitely delivered real performance since the prototypes were first introduced on tour last year,” says Jim McIntosh, tour representative for UST. “Unlike any other shaft on the market today, AXIV Technology weaves four different modulus carbon fibers in four different directions all in one ply of material. It is the most unique material in graphite shaft production today and the new technology is already a proven performer on the world tours with multiple wins.”
Engineered by UST, AXIV Technology creates a ‘Rapid Shaft Recovery System’ that resists deformation and returns the shaft to a round shape faster than any other shaft on the market. The ‘loading’ and ‘unloading’ of the golf swing, alters the characteristics and shape of a shaft. The AXIV Tetra-Axial weave not only aids in the recovery of the shaft to ensure a consistent return to the ball with each swing, the single ply offers superior feel in the hands. The new AXIV technology ‘sets a new bar’ for innovations in premium golf shafts.
“UST’s commitment to real innovation and our consistent level of performance is why world-renowned pros such as Davis Love III, Jim Furyk, Rod Pampling and many others trust high-performance UST shafts,” adds McIntosh.
