1500 Golfers Turn Out For Free Clubs, Free Golf, Free Lessons & Free Range Balls
May 23, 2008- Sacramento, Calif. With perfect weather, great support from NCPGA Golf Professionals and office staff, wonderful EWGA, GCSAA, and NCGA volunteers, and lots of new golfers, this year’s Play Golf America Day at Haggin Oaks Golf Complex in Sacramento, CA was another massive success. The highlights were:
– The press releases, television appearances, radio advertising, Sacramento Bee newspaper advertising, promotion around the facility, email blasts, and other strategies all worked. The Play Golf America Day opened up a half hour early at 8:30 AM with 100 to 150 people waiting in line to enter.
– Wilson Golf, a key sponsor of the Northern California program donated golf clubs to each and every participant to the event. New golfers now have a complimentary golf club to learn the game with. “We cannot thank Wilson enough for their amazing gift to the game,” says Haggin Oaks Director of Golf Ken Morton, Sr. “Their support in this way allows new golfers to test the waters of this great game with little investment and generates an amazing amount of new golfers in the process.”
– All 50 stations on the range, the putting greens and the golf course were full for the entire day. The golfers were enjoying free range balls and free instruction. The NCPGA golf professionals did a wonderful job helping these new golfers with their game. They were excited to hit the ball better than ever, and excited to come back again to enjoy the game.
– Jerry Poley, Janet Ortega, Ben Alexander, Tim Berg and Orhan Etiz conducted clinics for the attendees on the short game, adding distance to your driver, short irons and putting. Their expertise drew 30 to 50 attendees to each clinic and were very well received.
– TaylorMade, Nike, Cobra, GEL Golf and Ping conducted demo days and exposed the golfers to the best equipment in the industry. Thank you to all our vendors for you support.
– We had 380 free rounds played from the Play Golf America participants on the nine hole Arcade Golf Course at Haggin Oaks. These golfers were excited to take advantage of this wonderful offer.
Initial counts show that there were close to 1500 attendees that filled out the registration cards at the different locations around the facility. 90% registered at the Play Golf America registration at the range.
The quote of the day came from one of the event attendees, “This was the best day in golf I have ever received. I have been here since 9 AM. I practiced on the range. I enjoyed the clinics, I received a golf lesson, I played nine holes of golf, and I received a free Wilson golf club to give to my friend who wants to start playing. Thank you for putting this event on, it was wonderful”
