ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – Danny and Alice Scott were a last-minute entry into the ING/International Pairs World Qualifier at the 18th Annual ING Spring Conference in Atlantic City, NJ, last week. They made changes in travel plans so they could join golf industry peers and media in this annual networking and educational gathering conducted by the non-profit International Network of Golf.
Now they will have to change their travel plans again.
The husband/wife team combined for a remarkable 47 points in this best-ball modified Stableford format to blow away their competition at historic Atlantic City Country Club. Tom Landers and Sean Fitzsimmons, publishing associates of Golfing Magazine, finished second, five points back.
This victory earned for the Scotts a trip to St. Andrews Scotland to represent the USA and the ING in the fifth Interntional Pairs World Finals Sept. 20-22. Nearly all expenses are covered for the two in the sponsorship arrangement between International Pairs and ING.
The International Network Of Golf, an 18-year-old non-profit, media-based networking organization whose mission is to bring together members of the media and business communities to enhance communication in golf, conducts the conference. ING is open to anyone in the golf industry or media.
“We are delighted to once again be working with the ING,” said Ross Honey, Founder of the 9-year-old International Pairs competition. “We think the Scotts will be tremendous representatives of the United States, and I know they will have a terrific week.”
The Scotts, owners of Butthead Covers, Inc. in Gilbert, AZ, have been affiliated with the ING for two years. This was their first attempt at qualifying for the I.P. world finals.
“We really were shocked that we did so well,” said Alice, a 22 handicap who shot 88 on her own ball. Danny is a 7. “It was a tough day with all the wind on a challenging golf course but Danny and I played well as a team, and I guess that what did it for us.”
Butthead Covers, Inc. is owned and operated by the Scotts, the originators of the “tail end” headcovers. The two have blended years of extensive corporate training and leadership experience with their passion for life, golf and family. Cover categories include Through the Woods, Wet and Wild, Exotic, Cats and Dogs, Wings and Stings, Funny Farm, Custom, Corporate, Etc., The Tiny Hiny Line and Bootyful People.
The Scotts will be outfitted by several ING sponsors. They each will carry USA/ING logo’d golf bags from Razor Golf, their clubs will have C-Thru Grips and they will wear blazers from Jackets Required.
