Leading Retailer Has Raised $900,000 for Prostate Cancer Research Since 2003
(TORONTO) – Golf Town – Canada’s largest golf retailer with unequaled selection and competitive prices at 39 locations coast to coast – announces the successful conclusion of the Golf Town Invitational at Toronto’s Magna Golf Club on Monday, June 2, featuring Tour legends Tom Watson and Bernhard Langer.
Benefiting the Prostate Cancer Research Foundation of Canada (PCRFC), the Invitational featured a clinic conducted by the Tour stars, and a nine-hole exhibition match during which fans could interact directly with the players. Following the match – which Langer won with a one-under-par score of 35 – the World Golf Hall of Famers played several shots with each foursome in the day’s 18-hole shotgun tournament.
Since 2003, Golf Town has raised $900,000 for the PCRFC (www.prostatecancer.ca) via events like the Invitational, helping to fight the disease and increase awareness of the leading cancer threat to Canadian men.
“Thanks to Tom and Bernhard, the second annual Golf Town Invitational was a huge success,” says Stephen Bebis, President and CEO of Golf Town. “Not only did we raise a tremendous amount of money for the PCRFC, we provided participants with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to share an intimate day with two of the game’s greatest players.”
“Right now, one-in-seven men are likely to be diagnosed with prostate cancer, but the rate is increasing and in the next decade it’s expected that one-in-four men will be affected,” says John Blanchard, President and CEO of the PCRFC. “By hosting events like this, Golf Town has played a key role in raising awareness and funds for research that will eradicate the threat of the disease.”
Golf Town offers an unbeatable selection of clubs, bags, balls, apparel, footwear, accessories, gifts, logo merchandise, promotional services and more. This includes the world’s leading golf brands, such as Adams, Bridgestone, Callaway Golf, Cleveland, Cobra, Dunning, ECCO, FootJoy, Founders Club, Gordon Cooper, Greg Norman, Honma, Hugo Boss, LaCoste, Liz Claiborne, LIJA, Mizuno, Nike Golf, Odyssey, Ogio, Paradise, Ping, Sun Mountain, TaylorMade adidas Golf, Titleist and Wilson.
