TrackMan™ data to be used during broadcast of the 2008 US OPEN

June 9, 2008

(VEDBAEK, DENMARK) – For the first time ever, TrackMan™ data will be used during the broadcast of the US Open as measurement results will be conveyed to viewers all over the world during the 2008 event. As another US Open first, TrackMan™ will measure tee shots from two holes, #6 and #13, Tuesday through Friday.

During the 2008 US Open at Torrey Pines, June 12-15, player launch and trajectory data will be captured during live competition for the second time in USGA tournament history. In 2007, TrackMan™ monitors measured competitor tee shots on one tee. For 2008, TrackMan™ technology will capture shot data on two tees (#6 and #13), during the Tuesday and Wednesday practice rounds, as well as during the first two competition rounds Thursday and Friday. TrackMan™’s continued presence at the US Open enables the USGA to acquire the most accurate ball flight and club data for the world’s top players.

As a new step in TrackMan™’s contribution to the US Open, TrackMan™ data will be used in this year’s broadcasting. During Thursday and Friday’s tournament play, club head speed, ball speed, carry distance and 3D graphics (ball flight trajectory) for US Open contestants will be delivered to a worldwide audience. Additional parameters, such as spin rate and launch angle, may also be examined live.

Dick Rugge, the USGA’s Senior Technical Director said: “We are very pleased to deepen our cooperation with TrackMan™ year after year. The US Open is a great opportunity for the USGA to measure launch conditions and swing performance of the best golfers in the world. Once again, TrackMan™ will be a key asset in our effort to monitor the game of golf during top competition.”

Klaus Eldrup-Jorgensen, President of ISG, stated: “We are proud to continue our contribution to the US Open. We work hard to develop the world’s most useful and accurate measurement and analysis technologies to be used during the world’s top sporting events. We are excited that the USGA has chosen to use TrackMan™ on two tees during the 2008 US Open.”

The data provided by the TrackMan™ Tour System includes 3-D shot trajectory, carry distance, ball landing position, ball speed, vertical launch angle, spin rate, club speed, and more.

Headquartered in Vedbaek, Denmark, ISG A/S is the developer and owner of the TrackMan™ system. Based on Doppler radar technology, TrackMan™ measures exact 3-dimensional club movement and provides highly accurate data on the ball launch, ball flight, and ball landing coordinates of any golf shot. In addition, TrackMan™ measures actual spin rate of the ball without marking it and features outstanding portability, reliability, and ease of use. As such, TrackMan™ has set a new standard for golf ball and golf club measurement and is currently in use worldwide by almost every major golf club, golf shaft, and golf ball manufacturer, as well the USGA and the R&A. With recent software upgrades, an improved price, and both FCC and CE approval, ISG is making the TrackMan™ technology available to a wider range of customers including golf clubs, golf academies, golf ranges, club-fitters, tour professionals, and serious players.
