June 11, 2008

San Diego, Ca: The setting could not be more dramatic or the tournament more challenging for Mike Weir to debut his 2008 Sundog Weir Golf Signature Series. At the spectacular South Course at Torrey Pines at the always demanding U.S. Open, Weir will wear his new Grinder sunglasses for the first time.

“The U.S. Open is obviously a highlight on our TOUR schedule, and I’m pleased to be able to unveil the new Grinder sunglasses at this important event,” said Weir. “The Sundog Weir Golf glasses have become a very important part of my gear, and I’m looking forward to wearing this new line.”

The 2003 Masters Champion’s first Sundog Eyewear models – the popular Weir Golf sunglass line – were introduced in 2004, less than a year after Mike became the first Canadian to win The Masters. For this season, the line has been expanded to the Sundog Weir Golf Signature Series for 2008.

“It is always a pleasure working with Mike on the look, feel, and overall design of his Signature Series,” said John Whitney, Sundog Eyewear Vice President of Product Development. “And it is especially gratifying to see that all the time working together has paid off again. Mike is very comfortable wearing the new models, and they are performing to his and our high standards.”

The three unique designs Sundog Weir Golf Signature Series for 2008 are inspired by the playing style of the eight-time winner on the PGA Tour. The Grinder model making its debut at the U.S. Open is named for Mike’s tenacious work ethic; the Balance model for his controlled swing and approach to life; and Vision for his focus on becoming the best he can possibly be.

Each Sundog Weir Golf Signature Series model incorporates Sundog Eyewear’s Genuine Performance features including CRISTEC Polarized lens technology, MaxFlex RILSAN frames, 8 Base Distortion-free PC lens, Megol Temple Tips and Nose pads, and four choices of lens and frame colors.

“I’ve always depended on the Sundog Weir Golf sunglasses for complete eye protection, both on and off the golf course,” Weir said. “I have been very happy with the new 2008 designs and I know that others will really enjoy the new addition to the line with the Grinder sunglasses.”

To celebrate the launch of the 2008 Signature Series Mike is giving away 12 Collector Edition prizes of a threesome of Grinder, Vision, and Balance glasses. The special Sundogs contest on www.mikeweir.com runs until June 30th with the draw for the lucky winners on July 1st.

The Weir Golf Signature Series is just part of the Sundog Eyewear line that includes the Paula Creamer Collection and the Hunter Mahan HDrive Series.
