Annual list celebrates the country’s top male collegiate golfers
ORLANDO, Fla., (June 11, 2008) – Golfweek, the publication preferred by serious golfers, honors the top male players in college golf with the release of Golfweek’s Men’s All-America Teams, which is featured in the magazine’s June 14 issue. The 10-player First Team is led by Golfweek’s College Player of the Year Rickie Fowler, a freshman at Oklahoma State who won two events and had top-8 finishes in 10 of 12 starts this season. Joining Fowler are UCLA’s Kevin Chappell, who won the NCAA individual championship en route to leading the Bruins to the team championship, and Alabama’s Michael Thompson, who shot a final-round 65 to capture the SEC individual title.
“Today’s college game is incredibly competitive, and Golfweek salutes these players for being the best of the best,” said Golfweek Editor Jeff Babineau. “Today’s collegiate talent pool is deep, filled from all corners of the globe, and to be named to the All-America Team is an impressive accomplishment. You will be hearing many of these names for many years to come in both the amateur and professional game.”
