Red, White & Blue USA-Themed Pulsar Golf Cleats Worn By More Than 2 Dozen Players at Torrey Pines, During First Round of U.S. Open; Softspikes Pursuing 46th Straight Major Championship
Brentwood, Tennessee, June 12, 2008 … PrideSports, maker of Softspikes Pulsar™ and Black Widow™ plastic cleats, the world’s leading golf cleat brand, today announced that more that 2 dozen golfers at the 2008 U.S. Open Championship were outfitted with the Company’s specially-made red, white and blue USA-themed cleats.
Featuring an embossed star in the middle of the cleat, the unique USA-themed Pulsar cleats, the #1 Cleat on the PGA TOUR, have combined with traditional Pulsar models, as well as Black Widow cleats, to give Softspikes a powerful trio of products at the 2008 U.S. Open Championship. In fact, capturing the plastic cleat field at the U.S. Open would mark the 46th consecutive Major Championship for Softspikes.
“The USA-themed Pulsar cleats are a fun way for players to show their patriotism during America’s premier golf championship,” said Joe Zeller, President, PrideSports. “This week is the first time we have introduced the red, white and blue Pulsar models on tour, so we are thrilled to have 2 dozen players wearing this product during a Major. We expect that Pulsar’s existing popularity and dominance on Tour, now featured in a patriotic theme, will continue to be a huge hit with the players.”
PrideSports was formed in January 2003 following Pride Manufacturing Company’s purchase of Softspikes, Inc., and its sister company Trisport, Ltd. of England. This acquisition essentially formed the world’s premier golf accessories company, as Pride and Softspikes are the world’s leading golf tee and golf cleat lines, respectively. Today, PrideSports is the world leader in the design and manufacture of cleats, spikes and receptacles for the entire golf footwear industry.
