Two Unknown Players Sit On Top US Open Leaderboard Using Nickent 4DX Driver, 4DX Hybrid
What’s fueling the first round leaders of the US Open? Two virtually unknown players, one currently ranked 156th on the 2008 Nationwide Tour and the other ranked 146th on the 2008 PGA TOUR, are both using Nickent Golf clubs.
The player currently in 2nd place is hitting an amazing 86% of fairways with his Nickent 9-degree 4DX SE Driver powered by a Fujikura Rombax SE shaft. The rest of the field is averaging 57.49% driving accuracy in comparison. The player has been using the Nickent driver for about a month, making all three of his cuts on the Nationwide Tour since making the switch. With treacherous rough, the US Open setup at Torrey Pines calls for straight and accurate drives. For now, it seems the player has found the right formula for keeping it in the fairway and out of the deceptive kikuya grass. He is in the clubhouse with a 68.
The current first round leader, who at the time of this report is through 13 holes, is using an 18.5 degree 4DX Ironwood with an Aldila NV shaft. The player switched from the 3DX Ironwood to the 4DX Ironwood at the EDS Byron Nelson Championship at the end of April.
