#1 Brand on Tour Halfway to Grand Slam Title
Marlborough, MA-June 16th, 2008- It was a familiar site in the winner’s circle after Monday’s playoff round at the U.S. Open with the red-shirted champion sporting CHAMP Spikes. The world’s number one ranked golfer overcame a two-month layoff and a sudden-death playoff for his 14th Major championship.
The winner conquered a one-stroke deficit on the back nine for his first Major of 2008. With the victory, CHAMP Spikes is halfway to another Grand Slam championship, after capturing the Slam the last two seasons. Both golfers participating in Monday’s playoff chose CHAMP and the traditional Metal Wafer Lite™ spike to stay grounded for five days of grueling golf.
In total, half of the top ten sported CHAMP Spikes and nearly half the field chose CHAMP for traction at Torrey Pines. However, the most impressive statistic, according to the Darrell’s Survey, is that 60% of the golfers who wore CHAMP chose it over the original equipment that came in their shoes.
