Las Vegas’ Imprint Was All Over Historic US Open at Torrey Pines
GolfLasVegasNow.com was at the U.S. Open at Torrey Pines this past week, and featured stories, quotes and news from several of the key people from the event including U.S. Open Doctor Rees Jones (designer of Cascata and Rio Secco in Las Vegas), Butch Harmon (the Las Vegas pro had five ‘students’ in the Open), Tiger Woods (Las Vegas physical therapist Keith Kleven helped Tiger through the pain), Adam Scott’s caddie fight, Craig Barlow and many more. Click to read the news, notes and anecdotes from the U.S. Open that Tiger called his best win ever, and what Barlow and Phil Mickelson called the most fair U.S. Open set-up that they had ever seen. And with the news that Tiger Woods is having season-ending knee surgery, this Open could go down as one of the most important ever.

Painted Desert Golf Club: Vegas’ First Desert Layout
Painted Desert Golf Club was the first, true desert golf course built in the Las Vegas valley, and was designed by the legendary Jay Moorish who has teamed with the best in the business of the years (Nicklaus, Weiskopf, etc.) in addition to crafting courses on his own. And now visitors to Las Vegas can experience this Las Vegas golf course for summer golf rates starting at $49 (twilight), $69 (Mon-Thurs), and $89 (Fri-Sun). Painted Desert Golf Club is now managed by EAGLE Golf, a leader in the golf business.

Did Timberlake, Vegas’ PGA Tour Host, Do Vegas Proud?
It would be easy to throw Justin Timberlake under the bus today for not representing Las Vegas golf very well en route to shooting a 27-over par 98 in US Open conditions on the Friday before the big boys tee off at Torrey Pines next week. Very easy, especially considering he’s about a six handicap. But we won’t because in life and golf it’s not how you start, it’s how you finish and Timberlake went ‘Jordan’ over the final few holes to shoot a ‘respectable’ 98. Timberlake was one-fourth of a foursome that featured The Today Show host Matt Lauer, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo and amateur golfer John Atkinson. They took up a challenge thrown down by Golf Digest to try to and break 100 on a U.S. Open layout.
