Seven Players Win with Pro V1 or Pro V1x Golf Balls Across Worldwide Professional Tours
Fairhaven, MA (June 30, 2008) – Inbee Park and Kenny Perry led Titleist golf ball loyalists to a seven-win week across the worldwide professional tours. With the worldwide sweep, the Titleist golf ball victory count advanced to 86, nearly four times the nearest competitor and more than all other golf balls combined. Below are the Titleist weekly highlights by tour:
PGA: Kenny Perry captured the Buick Open following a final round 6-under 66 to finish at 19-under 269, one shot better than Woody Austin and Bubba Watson. All three players relied upon the Titleist Pro V1x golf ball. It marked the second win of the year and the 11th of Perry’s PGA TOUR career. He is the third multiple winner on the 2008 PGA TOUR and only the fifth multiple winner in the 50-year history of the event. Perry, who won the Memorial earlier this month, also won the 2001 Buick Open.
Matthew Jones (Pro V1x, 905R driver, 906F4 3-wood, 695MB irons, Vokey Design pitching and lob wedges, Scotty Cameron putter), Bob Tway (Pro V1x, AP2 irons, Vokey Design sand and lob wedges) and Ken Duke (Pro V1) tied for fourth, two shots behind Perry, as Titleist golf ball players secured the top six positions on the leaderboard.
Titleist was the most played golf ball at the event with 106 players, compared to 23 for the nearest competitor. Titleist was also the top choice in the iron (43), wedge (163) and putter (66) categories, and second in drivers with 41, including 12 who relied on the new 909 series. The win was the 14th for Titleist golf ball loyalists on the 2008 PGA TOUR, more than all other golf balls combined.
PGA EUROPEAN: Spanish rookie Pablo Larrazabal (Pro V1x, 906F2 3-wood, 735.CM irons, Vokey Design pitching wedge, Spin Milled sand and lob wedges, Scotty Cameron Studio Select putter) captured the French Open for his first PGA European Tour victory, closing with a 4-under 67 to win by four strokes. Larrazabal, who had to play two qualifying rounds to get into the event, finished at 15-under 269. Titleist ambassador Soren Hansen (Pro V1x, 905R driver, 906F4 3-wood, 980F 5-wood, AP2 irons, Vokey Design pitching and sand wedges, Spin Milled lob wedge, Scotty Cameron putter) placed solo third, two strokes behind the winner.
Titleist was the most played golf ball at the event with 109 players, compared to 18 for the nearest competitor. The win was the 15th for Titleist golf ball loyalists on the 2008 PGA European Tour, three times more than the nearest competitor with 5.
LPGA: Two weeks away from her 20th birthday, Pro V1 golf ball loyalist Inbee Park closed with a 2-under 71 to become the youngest winner in U.S. Women’s Open history. Park finished at 9-under 283, four shots clear of Pro V1 player Helen Alfredsson. Park was the only player to break par all four rounds and made the U.S. Women’s Open her first LPGA Tour victory.
Stacy Lewis, trying to become the first player to win a major in her professional debut, tied for third at 4-under 288 with fellow Pro V1 players Angela Park and In-Kyung Kim, as Titleist golf ball loyalists accounted for each of the top five positions on the leaderboard. In fact, eight of the nine players who finished among the top six and ties trusted Titleist golf balls.
Titleist was the most played golf ball at the U.S. Women’s Open with 122 players, more than five times the nearest competitor with 18. Scotty Cameron putters tied for the top choice in the putter category with 33 players.
CHAMPIONS: Pro V1 player Loren Roberts went wire-to-wire to capture the Commerce Bank Championship for his first win of the year. Roberts fired a final round three-under 68 for a one shot victory over two players. Roberts posted a 12-under 201 total that earned him his eighth title on the senior circuit, matching his victory total from his PGA TOUR career.

NATIONWIDE: Justin Hicks (Pro V1x, 695CB irons, Vokey Design sand and lob wedges, Scotty Cameron putter), the co-leader after the first round of the U.S. Open, won the Wayne Gretzky Classic for his first Nationwide Tour title, on the first hole of a sudden death playoff. Hicks closed with a two-under 69 to finish regulation at 16-under 269. With the win, Hicks jumped from 160th to 13th on the money list. The final top 25 will earn PGA Tour cards.

CANADIAN: Dustin Risdon birdied the first extra hole to top George Bradford in an all-Pro V1x playoff at the ATB Financial Classic. The pair finished regulation at 20-under par 264, but it was Risdon’s 7-iron to two feet at the first playoff hole that landed him his second Canadian Tour title. Four other players shared third spot at 265.
ASIAN: Titleist ambassador Joon Kyung Mo of Korea (Pro V1x, 907D2 driver, 906F2 fairway wood, 585H utility metal, AP2 irons, Vokey Design wedges, Scotty Cameron putter) fired a final round 7-under 65 to capture the Singha Thailand PGA Championship by three shots over fellow Pro V1x player Juvic Pagunsan. Mo finished at 21-under 267 for his second career win on the Asian Tour, coming 12 years after his maiden victory at the 1996 Guam Open. His triumph also marks the first win on the 2008 Asian Tour for a player relying upon the new AP2 irons.
David Gleeson (Pro V1x) posted the best score of the final round with an 8-under 64 to finish solo third and give Titleist golf ball players a 1-2-3 sweep. In fact, 9 of the top 10 finishers relied upon Titleist golf balls for their success. Titleist golf ball players accounted for 80 percent of the field with 124, compared to 16 for the nearest competitor.
