SONOMA COUNTY, CA-Northern California continues to be a hot bed of junior golf as Total Golf Adventures moves into its fifth county in the northern part of the state. Sherman Leland, the owner of TGA of Marin, just purchased the rights to Sonoma County, giving him a new cadre of schools in which he can introduce the only at-school, after-school golf enrichment program to students in K-8. The expanded territory will be named TGA of The North Bay.
“In the two years that I have owned the Marin County TGA franchise, I have seen tremendous interest from parents and the schools about the value added benefits of our unique golf enrichment program,” says Leland. “I now see the opportunities for growth in Sonoma County with its population in excess of a half-million people and rich golf history. This will be a great opportunity for me to grow my business and at the same time introduce the fun of the life sport of golf to the kids of Sonoma.”
TGA has put more than 36,000 K-8th grade students through its programs, and there are 41 TGA programs in 23 states with more than 1,500 schools participating. TGA also operates programs in the Sacramento area, San Jose (Silicon Valley), Marin and San Francisco.
“Leland’s move into Sonoma County is the perfect example of the entrepreneurial spirit. He has been extremely successful in building a strong business base in Marin County while impacting and giving back to the community. In building his business, he has put together a strong team in Marin County which allows him the opportunity to expand,” said Joshua Jacobs, President and CEO of TGA.
Total Golf Adventures (TGA) (www.totalgolfadventures.com) was founded in 2003 with a mission to provide all K-8th grade students with access into the game of golf through the first national at-school, after school Golf Enrichment Program.
TGA is one of the fastest-growing sports franchises and junior golf companies because the traditional barriers of convenience and cost that prevent 90% of children from playing golf are eliminated when golf is brought to the schools.
TGA’s 5 Level Golf Enrichment Program, developed by Golf Professionals and Education Experts, teaches the fundamentals, rules and etiquette of golf, while promoting golf’s life values through our character development initiative, “Play the Fair Way with TGA.” TGA transitions students from their schools to the golf course by offering camps, tournaments, clinics and private lessons.
TGA supplies its Territory Owners with the tools they need to succeed while building a strong base of corporate supporters which supply a variety of services and products to TGA territories. Just added to a growing list of corporate partners/sponsors is Staples® which provides printed marketing solutions for all TGA territories. Already participating with TGA is: Nicklaus Golf Equipment, the official provider of junior golf clubs and Garb, Inc., the official provider of apparel for participants and staff.
Total Golf Adventures is endorsed and named as the official junior golf initiative by the National High School Golf Coaches Association (NHSGCA) and the Golf Range Association of America (GRAA); is a national supporting organization of the After School Alliance and Lights on AfterSchool, and is a corporate advocate and a partner of the President’s Challenge on Physical Fitness.
