In an effort to unify and maximize a key element of the golf industry’s research resources, Golf Datatech, LLC and the National Golf Foundation have agreed to combine their rounds played collection efforts, and will deliver to the industry a single “National Rounds Played Report” under Golf Datatech’s direction. These reports will also include the rounds information collected through the PGA of America/NGCOA PerformanceTrak database.
The monthly reports will be sent to all participating golf courses, golf companies and media free of charge. Golf Datatech, the industry’s leading retail market research company, will collect the data and issue reports showing rounds played monthly and year-to-date index comparisons on a national, regional, state and city scale. There are currently more than 4,200 courses volunteering monthly rounds. Prior to this agreement between Golf Datatech and the NGF there had been multiple solicitations to golf courses to report their monthly rounds played and multiple reports issued, sometimes with different findings.
“The golf industry now has a single report to rely on and to follow,” said Golf Datatech’s Tom Stine. “Golf courses can now report their monthly rounds played data in one of three ways-either to the PGA of America/NGCOA PerformanceTrak or roundsplayed.com, or to Golf Datatech directly– and be assured their data will be included in the same report.”
Joe Beditz, CEO of the NGF, explained, “After thoroughly comparing our research methodologies and our historical results it struck us that redundant studies of rounds played were unnecessary. Joining forces makes sense and creates efficiencies for our organizations and for those we ask to respond to our surveys.”
“We hope our efforts to combine the reports will encourage more golf courses to participate,” Stine said. “The reports are sent free and all individual course data is strictly confidential.”
