SYLVANIA, Ohio: Paula Creamer does everything with style, from wearing her Sundog Eyewear Paula Creamer Collection sunglasses to playing her trademark final-round pink golf ball. And at the Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic Presented by Kroger, Creamer notched her third LPGA Tour win this year in record fashion.
Creamer’s amazing 11-birdie, no bogey opening round of 60 set the new course record at the Highland Meadows Golf Club and set the stage for her wire-to-wire victory, her seventh LPGA Tour win.
“Everyone here at Sundog Eyewear congratulates Paula on her record-setting performance,” said John Whitney, Sundog’s Vice President of Product Development. “As Natalie Gulbis said after watching Paula set the course record with that amazing round of 60, Paula is so talented, she could birdie every hole.”
Within one shot of Annika Sorenstam’s Tour record 59, [equalled only three times on the men’s PGA Tour] Creamer became just the fourth LPGA Tour player to shoot 60. Her best round on Tour by four shots included a back nine 27 which tied the Tour record for lowest nine-hole score.
The 21-year-old Creamer, now the number four ranked woman player in the world, admitted that her record-setting opening round posed some challenges. “After you shoot 60, it’s the hardest thing to come back out and play,” she said after accepting the winner’s check. “I managed to get it done.” Creamer did indeed with 21 birdies in the first 54 holes on the way to her two-stroke victory.
“The Sundog Eyewear line is all about Genuine Performance and once again Paula has come though with a genuine and truly outstanding performance,” added Whitney. “Paula set the scoring record this year at the Fields Open [16 under par] wearing her Prowl PC Collection glasses, and Paula and her Prowl glasses have done it again.”
The Paula Creamer Collection incorporates Sundog Eyewear’s commitment to Genuine Performance with the “Prowl” featuring de-centered 10 Base PC TORIC lenses and a stainless steel frame front; “Strive” featuring one-piece 6 base polycarbonate lenses and the performance of MaxFlex RILSAN frames; and a one-piece Bubble 9 Base de-centered PC lens on “Impression”.
