Young Women and Girls Can Play Free and Take Part in Other Related Events Scheduled at the Island’s Award-Winning Courses
(KAUA’I, Hawaii) – The Kaua’i Visitors Bureau today announced that the six courses and 117 combined holes which comprise the golf destination Kaua’i: Discover Golf’s Ultimate IslandGreen welcome families to participate in “Take Your Daughter to the Course Week” from July 14-20.
Among other things being offered at the Kaua’I courses, girls and young ladies may play free at each of six courses – Princeville (Prince and Makai courses), Kaua’i Lagoons, Puakea, PoipuBay and Kiahuna – with a paying adult throughout the week. This opportunity is part of an initiative by “Play Golf America” and the National Golf Course Owners Association. Since the program began nine years ago, hundreds of thousands of girls and families have participated nationwide. July is designated as Family Golf Month by the PGA of America.
“Interest in golf among girls and women has increased greatly in recent years,” said Sue Kanoho, Executive Director of the Kaua’i Visitors Bureau which helps support the island’s golf destination cooperative. “This is a great way to sustain that momentum and give them additional opportunities to enjoy the game.”
Following is what each of the aforementioned Kaua’i courses offer during “Take Your Daughter to the Course Week”:

Home to the Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course (Kiele) which Golf Digest rated No. 56 in its biennial “America’s 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses”, Kaua’i Lagoons is offering the followingfree clinics for girls age 6-17: Monday – Putting, Tuesday – Chipping, Wednesday – Rules & Etiquette; Thursday – Full-swing. The golf club is also offering daughters to play free with a paying adult during the entire week (and free for all juniors with a paying adult after 3 pm on an ongoing basis).

Former longtime home to the PGA Grand Slam of Golf (1994-2006) is offering girls ages 6-17 play free with one full paying adult (one junior per adult). This special offer is part of PoipuBay’s Summer Fun Golf Promo and will end July 31.

Young ladies 7 – 17 receive complimentary green fees with a paying adult at Makai Course, a 27-hole complex with three nine-hole courses designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr.

Girls and young ladies age 18 and under play the course – ranked the 7th best course in Hawaii by Golfweek Magazine – free when accompanied by a paying adult. Also, a free clinic is being offered on Saturday, July 20 to girls 18 and under (and whomever they bring with them… Mom, Dad, grandparent, aunt, etc.). The clinic includes two segments: 1) Putting: More One-Putts and Less Three-Putts (10 to 10:45 am) and Tee Shots: Longer and Straighter (10:45 to 11:30 am). There will be a contest at the end of each clinic segment with prizes for the winners.
