CARLSBAD, Calif. (July 14, 2008) – Justin Rose, already a long-time member of the TaylorMade-adidas Golf Tour Staff at the age of 27, has extended his relationship with TaylorMade-adidas Golf Company for multiple years. The world’s 9th-ranked player was the 2007 Order of Merit winner and is a virtual lock to compete in his first-ever Ryder Cup, when the 2008 competition takes place in late September.
Last year was the finest of Rose’s professional career as he captured the season-ending Volvo Masters to clinch the 2007 Order of Merit Title, awarded annually to the European Tour’s leading money winner. The victory capped a remarkable season for Rose in which he earned $4,276,062 in just 12 tournaments, the fewest played by a Harry Vardon Trophy winner in the Tour’s modern history. In addition, Rose performed consistently well at all four of last year’s major championships, finishing T5th at the Masters, T10th at the U.S. Open, T12th at the Open Championship and T12th at the PGA Championship.
“I’ve enjoyed a long relationship with TaylorMade-adidas Golf because I believe they make the best golf equipment in the world, including clubs, balls, apparel and footwear,” said Rose. “They have their finger on the pulse of the game, and that’s evident in every product they offer, whether they’re designed for the tour pro or the average player. The people within the company are second-to-none in the golf industry and have been influential helping me reach where I am today.”
The extension comes during a year when the Open Championship returns to Royal Birkdale, where Rose, as a 17-year old amateur, holed a wedge on the final hole of the 1998 Open Championship to cap a final-round 69. His fourth-place finish, youthful exuberance and spectacular last shot captured the imaginations of golf fans all over the world, and he remains an international fan favorite to this day.
Rose will continue to play TaylorMade® clubs and balls and to wear adidas Golf apparel and footwear. He will also continue to use a TaylorMade staff bag and feature the TaylorMade logo on the front of his headwear.
“Justin has been a fantastic ambassador for TaylorMade-adidas Golf and he truly embraces our philosophy of creating golf products that help the golfer perform at the highest level,” said Mark King, president and CEO of TaylorMade-adidas Golf. “We’re proud of the way he’s continued to grow and improve as a golfer, and we’ll continue to support him to the fullest.”
