New York, NY, July 2008 – For Spring 2009, Jack Nicklaus Sportswear launches a full lifestyle collection inspired by the breathtaking vistas of four Jack Nicklaus Signature Courses. Taking its cues from the legendary career of the Golden Bear, style and performance harmonize to create a signature menswear collection for both on and off the course. Highlights for the new season include the launch of the Hybrid shirt, the expansion of the Heritage and Sport Fit shirts into exciting new color ways and a broad range of novelty shorts and trousers.
Becky Ryan, VP of Sales and Marketing notes, ‘for the golfer who prefers the crisp look of mercerized, but appreciates the benefits of performance fabrics, our new Hybrid shirt responds to his needs.’ The revolutionary Hybrid shirt combines a unique blend of cotton and easy care polyester that draws moisture from the body, releasing it to the outside air, allowing for cool, dry skin throughout the day.
Performance 18 features technical fabrics that incorporate UV protection and Coolplus® technology. Beyond a broad range of striped and solid shirts, new product offerings include a sleeveless wind vest with contrast piping and a packable long sleeve, lightweight, full zip wind jacket. Both are wind and water resistant and fully lined with moisture-wicking mesh. In honor of golf’s greatest, the Golden Bear logo is showcased prominently on the back yoke of an array of brightly colored, solid performance shirts, as well as on the soft, molded zipper pulls and back yokes of vibrant outerwear pieces. For those who appreciate classic styling but crave a more tailored fit, Sport Fit offers a shorter body, shorter sleeves and a shorter placket in performance fabrications, highlighting new patterns and color ways for the new season.
The signature collection represents the highest quality in pure fiber golf styles. For Spring 2009, this assortment features double-mercerized cotton knits in stripes and solids with sportswear details such as contrast plackets and contrast tipping on collars. A grand array of pima cotton sweaters and sweater vests in clever argyles, solids and color block patterns enhance a lifestyle inspired look. Tastefully bold plaid cotton shorts and mini-houndstooth trousers will certainly be eye-catchers on the green. Oxford cotton and solid cotton twill shorts round out the bottoms assortment. Following the popularity of the lemon yellow Heritage polo that earned its place in history at the 1986 Masters, Spring 2009 debuts three new color ways: white, green apple and navy.
Jack Nicklaus Sportswear continues to focus on the importance of color with deliveries inspired by the distinct landscapes of four Jack Nicklaus Signature Courses. Turtle Point Golf Club at Kiawah Island features grass green, khaki, dark green and chocolate brown, celebrating the island’s earthen landscape. A sharp black and white group reflects the striking snow capped mountains of Montreux Golf & Country Club. The Ocean Course at Ginn Hammock inspires colors of ocean blue, navy, marine and white, playing off of the deep Atlantic Ocean hues. Sunset, fresh white and mango make one nostalgic for the soft ocean breezes and tropical foliage of Hokuli’a on Hawaii’s Kona Coast.
All Jack Nicklaus Sportswear products are backed by the Hartmarx commitment to quality and excellence. The Hartmarx Corporation produces and markets business, casual, and golf apparel for both men and women through a broad range of retail channels.
