Southwest Oklahoma’s Premier Golf and Residential Community Gives Back By Hosting the Halliburton SW Oklahoma Championship
(Southwest Oklahoma) – The Territory Golf and Country Club – ranked among the nation’s finest golf residential courses in the country by Golfweek Magazine – today announces that the Cancer Centers of Southwest Oklahoma received $46,000 via charitable donations during the Halliburton Southwest Oklahoma Championship held here. The Adams Pro Golf Tour Series event, played May 22 through 25 and won by Jaxon Brigman, was contested on the 18-hole Randy Heckenkemper-designed course.
Cyndi Crook, Director of the Duncan Regional Hospital Health Foundation, thanked everyone involved with the inaugural event that brought in some of the top professional and amateur golfers – many of whom will move on to the Nationwide Tour and ultimately PGA Tour – to the award-winning course.
“With the beautiful Territory Golf and Country Club, their professional staff, and the volunteers – combined with the generosity of all the sponsors that stepped up to raise $46,000 to help bring cancer treatment to southwest Oklahoma – the Halliburton Southwest Oklahoma Classic can be deemed a success,” Crook says.
Owners Rick and Barbara Braught were pleased to provide such a significant contribution to the Cancer Centers of Southwest Oklahoma.
“When we first set out to develop The Territory, we had our eyes on not only providing southwest Oklahoma with a top-of-the-bell-curve golf and residential community, but also a better way of life for generations to come,” says Rick Braught. “We are committed to Southwest Oklahoma and this is just one more way to give back to the community we love.”
In all, nearly 100 golfers tested their games on The Territory’s par-72, modified target-style layout that stretches to more than 7,100 yards from the tips. While Notah Begay III – a four-time winner on the PGA Tour and Tiger Woods’ former teammate at Stanford – may have been the most famous participant, it was a pair of former Oklahoma StateUniversity standouts who stole the show. In the end, Brigman’s 72-hole total of 15-under topped Tyler Leon’s 10-under effort.
In addition to the Halliburton Southwest Oklahoma Championship, The Territory has hosted the Oklahoma State Amateur, Oklahoma State Senior Amateur and an NCAA Division II Super Regional – an impressive list of events in a relatively short period of time.

About The Territory
With five sets of tees – ranging from 4,845 to 7,110 yards – the modified target-golf course offers playability and enjoyment to players of all ages and skill levels. The greens are an A1-A4 creeping bentgrass blend, the tees, fairways and roughs are Tifsport Bermudagrass and native vegetation frames the playing corridors.
Prospector’s Ridge, Phase I of the residential development, is in the early stages of development. Prices of lots available range from $61,000 to $138,000. If a similar, high-quality property like The Territory were located in the nearby Dallas-Fort Worth area it would likely cost three times as much.
Located on the historic Chisholm Trail, The Territory is within a short drive of lakes for boating and fishing and mere minutes from a pair of schools, shopping, dining and churches. In addition, Duncan Regional Hospital was named to the Solucient Top 100 Hospitals list – a study of more than 3,000 hospitals that identifies industry benchmarks by recognizing U.S. hospitals that have achieved excellence in quality of care, operational efficiency, financial performance and adaptation to the environment.
Owners Rick and Barbara Braught – members of the McCasland Oil family – are graduates of the University of Oklahoma and remain active through university fund raising, support and holding season tickets to Sooner athletic events. Barbara (BA 1986, MBA 1990) is the granddaughter of T.H. McCasland – the founder of Mack Oil Company – and serves as Executive Director of the McCasland Foundation, while Rick (BBA 1984, MBA 1989) oversees numerous companies.
