#1 Brand on Tour Wins Third Major of the Season
Marlborough, MA-July 21st, 2008 – With this weekend’s victories, CHAMP Spikes, the #1 Brand on Tour, is one step closer to claiming its third consecutive “Grand Slam of Golf.”
CHAMP Spikes has recorded victories at The Masters, The US Open, and The Open Championship thus far, and with a victory at the PGA Championship, it will capture the elusive “Grand Slam of Golf.”
On a windy Sunday at Royal Birkdale in Southport, England, the 2008 Open Championship victor chose the directional traction of the CHAMP Scorpion Stinger™ golf spike. In his final round, the champion shot a 1-under 69 for a 4-stroke victory over the field, claiming the Claret Jug for the second straight year. The win moves him to No. 3 in the world, and No. 9 in the latest FedExCup standings. Overall, the weekend saw a whopping 65 players, including six of the top ten finishers, wearing either the CHAMP Stinger or ProStinger.
On the LPGA Tour, the State Farm Classic champion relied on the CHAMP Stinger spike to deliver her first professional career victory. The win came in a sudden death playoff as the second year professional sank her six-inch putt to claim her spot atop the weekend leaderboard.
