Blaine, MN. ~ R.W. Eaks on Sunday won his third Champions Tour event using the Fisher Talon TS-3 4-Speed putter. He finished atop the leaderboard at the 3M Championship in Minnesota.
Eaks had lost his previous Fisher Putter when the airlines misplaced his baggage earlier this year. After trying several other Fisher models and even some competitor’s putters, Eaks just did not find the same magic.
Don Anderson and Glen Passaretti from Fisher Putters went through the current inventory at the Fisher offices in Fountain Valley, CA, and checked over 100 putters until they found several that set up identical to the one that Eaks had won nearly 2.5 million dollars with in 2006 and 2007. During that run, he captured his first two victories and had 12 top-10 finishes.
Fisher shipped the putters to R.W. overnight; they arrived just before the first round of the 3M Championship. He opened the box in his locker and found two Talon 3’s that looked just like his previous model that was lost by the airlines.
Eaks said, “I pulled one out of the box and said ‘this is it.’ It was perfect, we are back in business, and bingo, the magic returned!
Eaks went on to beat a very prestigious field by six strokes. He smashed the 3M Championship scoring record by four shots, shooting rounds of 65, 63 and 65 for a total of 23 under par. His putting average was 26.7 putts per round. His putting stats climbed all the way back to number 2 among all tournament competitors.
“We are very proud to have R.W. Eaks using the Fisher Putter,” said Dr. Dale Fisher. “It is hard enough to have problems with your knees, but then to loose your favorite putter after a phenomenal 2007 season is just too much. That is why we went through our current stock to find a Talon 3 Putter that was as exact as possible to his original model that was lost by the airlines. We are all so happy that it paid off for him.”
More About Fisher Putters:
The Fisher Talon 4 Speed putters allow golfers to dial in their “feel” and “distance control” using the calibrated, multi-speed “Reversible Face Plate” (RFP) technology. The Talons offer 4 speeds: Softer, Soft, Firm, and Firmer.
Fisher’s patented face inserts are called “Kevflex.” Each insert is Color Coded. Prior to the round the golfer can choose the right insert based on his personal preference or the speed of the greens that day.
