BOULDER, Colo. – Collecting success stories from around the world, premium KBS Tour steel shafts scored an international victory this weekend at the Nagashima Shigeo Sega Sammy Cup in northern Japan. This week’s champion played KBS Tour steel shafts in his irons and won his third Japan Golf Tour event by scoring a final round 66 which included as many as seven birdies, three of which came in his last four holes.
Earlier this season, the all-new KBS brand introduced innovative Moment of Inertia Technology in a premium line of steel shafts and the results have been phenomenal. So far in their debut year, premium KBS steel shafts have chalked up wins at the Memorial Tournament, Buick Open, John Deere Classic and U.S. Bank Open on the PGA Tour and the Portugal Masters, BMW Asian Open, Open de Espana, Bank Austria Open and Sega Sammy Cup on the other pro tours.
“It has been more than a decade since golfers have seen any real tangible advancement in steel shaft design, and I believe that is why we are having so much success with KBS shafts right out of the gate,” says Kim Braly, director of product development for KBS shafts. “In order to optimize clubhead performance at the time of impact, the performance of the shaft is absolutely critical. Our KBS steel shafts achieve a higher degree of performance and feel through advanced MOI analysis and the results are speaking for themselves on pro tours around the world.”
Braly, who’s steel shaft designs are played by some of the world’s top golfers, explains KBS steel shafts provide superior stability and smoothly transfer energy to the ball at impact. KBS shafts feature a one-of-a-kind design and are engineered for better players. By reducing the mass and radius of each step in equal proportions along the shaft’s center line, the KBS Tour shaft delivers optimum stability resulting in efficient energy transfer from the player’s hands to the clubhead. In addition, the shaft design reduces shaft ‘interference’ during the swing which means greater performance with every shot.
Manufactured by FEMCO Steel Technology (FST), KBS Tour steel shafts incorporate high-quality precision manufacturing processes which include: Exclusive ‘Oil-Quench’ tempering method that produces ‘arrow-straight’ shafts from butt to tip; Tapered tip construction that provides a solid metal-to-metal bond in the hosel and tour-proven feel; higher-than-traditional center of gravity construction that allows for more clubhead mass; and matching shaft weight and frequency to strict tolerances that ensures peak playing performance and guaranteed repeatability.
