ORLANDO, Fla., – July 29, 2008…Marriott Golf, one of the world’s premier golf operators, today announced that Todd Evans has been named Director of Grounds for The Rookery at Marco, an 18-hole Robert Cupp Jr. design that is part of the Marco Island Marriott Beach Resort, Golf Club & Spa, in Marco Island, Fla.
Evans joined the Marriott Golf team in 2005, and has more than 15 years experience in the golf industry, including extensive knowledge in course renovations and construction. He most recently served as Superintendent for the famed “Blue Monster” course at Doral Golf Resort & Spa in Miami, Fla., where he successfully prepared for and delivered three PGA TOUR events, including two World Golf Championships.
In his new position, Evans will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, including the maintenance, repair, and landscaping, for all of the golf grounds at The Rookery at Marco. Evans will also focus his efforts on a significant bunker renovation project which is currently in progress.
Evans graduated from Edison Community College with a degree in Business Administration, and received his Turfgrass Certification from Penn State World Campus in 1994. Evans has been a Class A Member of GCSAA for the past 13 years.
