PGA Tour Rookie Sports Colorful, Funky Lifestyle Wear
(TORONTO)– Quagmire Golf’s trend-setting designers Bobby Pasternak and Geoff Tait announce that staff player Chez Reavie competed in their line’s modern, edgy sportswear while capturing the 2008 Canadian Open this past weekend at Glen Abbey Golf Club in Oakville, ON.
Reavie’s first PGA Tour win was the latest triumph for Quagmire, and was extra special given its proximity to the Toronto-based company’s headquarters. The three-year-old line has become one of North America’s fastest-growing golf-lifestyle brands, with distribution throughout Canada and an expanding U.S. presence.
The 26-year-old Reavie secured his three-stroke win in Quagmire’s signature Splash Polo ($85) in a light blue/white/black color combination. Throughout the week, Reavie showcased several other pieces from the 2008 collection, including the Wacked Polo ($79) in white and earth as well as the signature Quagmire belt ($55). He also previewed the Sweetspot pants ($89) in beige from the brand’s 2009 collection.
Crafted from the environmentally-friendly Gud ‘N dri fabric, both the Splash and Wacked polos feature a variety of performance characteristics designed to keep the wearer cool and dry. The styles are breathable, durable, fast-drying, soft, static free, wrinkle-proof, pilling-resistant and anti-microbial to provide ultimate comfort both on and off the course.
“Bobby and Geoff sent me a few samples and I immediately liked what I saw,” says Reavie. “It’s very comfortable, it’s stylish and it stands out and that’s what I was looking for. I saw a lot of people wearing Quagmire at the Canadian Open and when they saw me wearing it I think they really got a kick out of it.”
Reavie, who is managed by Peter Webb with Gaylord Sports Management, appreciates the line’scolorful, funky lifestyle pieces. Made for men and women, Quagmire apparel is designed to be worn from the beach to the course and on to the patio after a round. Its slogan, “Not Fit for the Fairway,” emphasizes that you don’t have to be a low handicapper to have fun and feel good.
“We started this company as two young, Canadian guys looking to change the trends in golf fashion,” says Pasternak, Quagmire Golf co-owner. “We were tired of our boring golf duds and decided to create chilled, lifestyle wear. We design looks for the young at heart golfers who above all have a love for the game and want to reflect this in their image. Our line fits the 18-hole dress code but works right into the 19th hole lifestyle.”
Capturing the Canadian Open earned Reavie and Quagmire Golf an invitation to this week’s World Golf Championships– Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio. The duo will also compete in its first major– The PGA Championship at Oakland Hills Country Club in Michigan– and secured an invitation to the 2009 Masters.
“We’re absolutely delighted for Chez,” adds Tait, Quagmire’s other co-owner. “We certainly could never have scripted a better event. The exposure on CBS television over the weekend and in the daily news papers across the United States and Canada is a huge boost for us, especially as we look to expand significantly into the U.S. marketplace for 2009.”
Quagmire Golf is sold at prestigious on-course shops throughout North America, such as Angus Glen Golf Course, Bigwin Island Golf Club, The Fairmont Algonquin, The Fairmont Banff Springs, Four Seasons Resort Great Exuma at Emerald Bay, Four Seasons Resort Nevis, Glen Abbey Golf Club, Hamilton Golf and Country Club, Nicklaus North Golf Course, Red Tail Golf Club and Tobiano. The line is also available at one of Canada’s largest golf retailers, Nevada Bob’s, and online at www.fairwaystyles.com.
