Superior Distance and Accuracy Drove Top Weekend Finishers
(SAN DIEGO, California) – Professionals playing Graphite Design shaft models excelled at the Legends Reno-Tahoe Open and the Cox Classic this weekend, while the company again dominated on the Japan Tour, according to the Darrell Survey.
At the PGA TOUR’s Legends Reno-Tahoe Open, a pair of second-place finishers used Graphite Design shafts, as did players taking the fourth and eighth spots. One runner-up found a remarkable 89.3 percent of fairways while averaging nearly 315 yards for the week playing Graphite Design’s Tour AD Quattro Tech model. A variety of the company’s fairway wood and hybrid shafts were in the bags of these top performers.
On the Nationwide Tour, six competitors tying for sixth or better at the Cox Classic played Graphite Design models. They included a third-place finisher who led the field in driving accuracy, using the company’s YS-6 shaft to hit 80.6 percent of fairways at Champions Run in Omaha, Neb.
Graphite Design also claimed the graphite wood shaft model count at the Japan Tour’s Sun-Chlorella Classic. In all, 178 Graphite Design shafts were in play, 35 percent of the total and 57 more than the nearest competitor. The company has claimed the count in 168 of 169 Japan Tour events dating to 2002.
“Distance and accuracy are key ingredients to success at golf’s highest levels, which is why so many professionals rely on Graphite Design shafts for their woods and hybrids,” said Tim Gillis, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Graphite Design. “You don’t need a tour professional’s swing to maximize results with Graphite Design shafts – our products are made to deliver exceptional performance for every type of golfer.”
Graphite Design – maker of some of the most widely played premium shafts on the PGA TOUR – recently introduced its Tour AD Throttle shaft designed with the company’s innovative Axial Composite Interlace (ACI) technology for strong golfers with aggressive, high-speed swings. Earlier this year, Graphite Design unveiled its Tour AD YSQ shaft delivering superior performance in four key areas: launch angle, spin rate, accuracy and distance.
In 2007, Graphite Design shaft models propelled professionals to a combined 45 victories on the PGA, Nationwide, Champions, Japan and LPGA tours. Among those relying on Graphite Design shafts were the world’s No. 3-ranked men’s player, the No. 4 women’s player, the winner of the Champions Tour’s Charles Schwab Cup points title, and seven of the top eight money earners on the Japan Tour. Graphite Design reinforced its dominance on the Japan Tour, where it has claimed 158 consecutive graphite wood shaft brand counts — an unprecedented streak which dates to 2002. On the PGA TOUR, Graphite Design shafts have helped professionals earn 54 victories and more than $290 million since 2004.
