HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA… Vijay Singh earned his first World Golf Championship and won for the 32nd time on the PGA TOUR, placing his name in the record books for most PGA TOUR victories by an international player. The victory also made him the oldest champion in the 10-year history of the tournament while extending his streak of at least one victory in each of the last six years.
“I drove the ball beautifully and hit a lot of good iron shots,” said Singh. “My driver was unbelievable, a Cleveland HiBORE. That’s the way to go!” Singh plays the HiBORE XL driver, a Launcher Steel fairway 13° 3-wood, CG1 Black Pearl irons, CG12 wedges and a Never Compromise GM2 Exchange belly putter.
Off the tee, Singh averaged 316 yards in driving, over 20 yards longer than the field, and 66% in accuracy. He finished the tournament at 10-under 270 and earned $1.35 million for the win. The victory is also expected to move him up to No. 4 in the world rankings.
