BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – The PGA of America has entered into a multi-year agreement through 2020 with The Sports Network (TSN) Canada to present live broadcast coverage of the PGA Championship, Ryder Cup, Senior PGA Championship and the PGA Grand Slam of Golf. TSN Canada’s agreement continues The PGA of America’s strong global coverage for its major spectator competitions, which extend to 195 countries and territories; and a potential household reach of 588 million.
The 90th PGA Championship also begins an agreement with DIRECTV, which will dedicate five additional channels in presenting the season’s final major from Oakland Hills Country Club.
The PGA’s agreement with TSN, the largest specialty network of Canada, provides:
. 30 hours of classic PGA of America golf programming for telecast on ESPN Classic
. A one-hour PGA Centennial television special
. A PGA public service announcement in each broadcast.
“The PGA Championship continues to elevate its reach to new audiences, with perennially the strongest field in golf and the deepest international field of any U.S. major,” said PGA of America Chief Executive Officer Joe Steranka. “We are very pleased to begin a long-term agreement with TSN Canada that will enhance all our major spectator championships and prepare for our Centennial in 2016.”
DIRECTV will offer 84 total hours during Championship week for subscribers nationwide, and will provide the following content in its coverage on five dedicated channels:
. The main CBS or Turner broadcast
. Two-hole coverage on par-3 holes
. An in-depth highlights channel featuring a single camera and talent that has the ability to provide highlights, cover the driving range or 18th green player interviews and news conferences.
. Following two foursomes (one in the morning and one in the afternoon) of all 18 holes each day
. A channel mosaic containing all of the above content
